Abstract

Objective To observe the clinical significance of application MMC combined with glaucoma drainage device implantation for refractory glaucoma. Methods The clinical data of 124 eyes of 124 patients with refractory glaucoma who underwent the Ahmed Glaucoma Valve (AGV) implantation were analyzed retrospectively. All cases were divided into MMC group of 57 cases underwent application MMC combined with glaucoma drainage device implantation; the control group of 67 cases received glaucoma drainage device implantation only.The efficacy of surgery was compared between the two groups. Results Follow-up for 1 year, the IOP and the number of antiglaucoma medications used were lower compared with those before surgery.The difference in IOP and the number of antiglaucoma medications at different time point was statistically significant (P 0.05). Conclusion Application of MMC in glaucoma drainage device implantation surgery for refractory glaucoma would not improve the efficacy.
