Abstract
Abstract Extensions of the synergids as haustoria into and beyond the micropyle have heen reported only in Ursinia, Calendula, and Cotula (Compositae) and in Quinchamalium (Santalaceae) ( Maheshwari 1950, Johri 1963, Davis 1966). Their presence in the grass genus Cortaderia is reported here.
