Abstract

Abstract In this chapter we introduce and study the main properties of Hausdorff measures ℋk in a general metric setting. This class of measures provides a very general extension of the classical concepts of length, surface area, and volume. We also study some covering theorems in metric spaces and we apply them to compare, using the spherical densities, Hausdorff measures with Radon measures.
