Welcome!Suhny Abbara, MD, FACR, FSCCT, Editor, Radiology: Cardiothoracic ImagingDownload as PowerPointOpen in Image Viewer RSNA has long published the premier peer-reviewed journals in the specialty of radiology, namely, Radiology, which has been published since 1923, and RadioGraphics, which was first published in 1981. RSNA launched its first subspecialty journal Radiology: Artificial Intelligence earlier this year, which is now followed by Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging. A third new subspecialty journal, Radiology: Imaging Cancer, is scheduled to launch later this year. The body of clinically impactful imaging research and advancement has increased substantially over the past 2 decades. In the past decade, there has been an enormous number of imaging innovations, which include but are not limited to innovations in scanner technologies, software algorithms, and new uses of evolving and established imaging modalities. There have been many new clinical applications for CT and MRI, most notably for guidance of a large number of minimally invasive transcatheter and endoscopic interventions in the heart, aorta, and lungs. These new minimally invasive treatments would not be possible without detailed imaging that delineates precise cardiovascular and pulmonary pathology, its surrounding anatomy, and access pathways. There is now a strong need for cutting-edge subspecialty imaging journals, as the number of high-quality radiology research articles has consistently exceeded the space available to publish in the existing journals. A substantial amount of high-quality content that is presented at the Annual Meeting has been published outside of the RSNA family of journals. Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging will address the demand for a venue in which to publish high-quality curated cardiothoracic imaging content and will highlight scientific advances and technological innovations in medical imaging as they relate to advancements in cardiac, vascular, and pulmonary medicine. To produce the inaugural issue of a brand-new journal involves a long and detailed process that includes the hard work and focused contributions of many dedicated individuals. I am extremely grateful to have the privilege to work with all of the members of Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging’s extraordinary editorial board. This board is composed of leading experts in imaging and its associated specialties. I am impressed with the exceptionally hardworking, talented, and committed professionals who make up the RSNA publication staff.Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging invites manuscript submissions that cover all aspects of cardiac, vascular, and pulmonary imaging. This includes research and reports regarding technological innovations or developments, early feasibility studies, single and multicenter trials, outcome studies, meta-analyses, and so forth. Many journals have abandoned publication of case reports out of concern for negative repercussions in journal impact factor. Not this journal! In addition to publishing high-quality reports of technical developments, observational research, and clinical trials, we will endeavor to positively impact patients’ health outcomes through the valuable educational experience that comes from sharing knowledge and observations through description of case-based imaging findings. High-quality educational reports will be highlighted in the journal’s sections Images in Cardiothoracic Imaging, Case Reports, and Imaging Essays. We are excited and honored to provide a platform for knowledge sharing and advancement of cardiothoracic imaging and medicine through the vehicle of Radiology: Cardiothoracic Imaging. This journal is dedicated to improving patient care through the dissemination of imaging-related science, innovation, and education, and we look forward to partnering with our readers and authors for decades to come.Article HistoryPublished online: Apr 25 2019 FiguresReferencesRelatedDetailsCited ByPublications on COVID-19 in radiology journals in 2020 and 2021: bibliometric citation and co-citation network analysisAntonioNavarro-Ballester, José A.Merino-Bonilla, Luis H.Ros-Mendoza, Santiago F.Marco-Doménech2022 | European RadiologyThe Liquidity-Augmented CAPM Over 1926 to 1963WeiminLiu2008 | SSRN Electronic JournalThe Liquidity-Augmented CAPM over 1926 to 1963WeiminLiu2007 | SSRN Electronic JournalRecommended Articles RadioGraphics 2021: Continuing the Path of ExcellenceRadioGraphics2021Volume: 41Issue: 1pp. 1-4Prospective Study of Transcatheter Arterial Chemoembolization (TACE) with Ginsenoside Rg3 versus TACE Alone for the Treatment of Patients with Advanced Hepatocellular CarcinomaRadiology2016Volume: 280Issue: 2pp. 630-639Editor’s Note: January 2018Radiology2017Volume: 286Issue: 1pp. 7-8CT in Transcatheter-delivered Treatment of Valvular Heart DiseaseRadiology2022Volume: 304Issue: 1pp. 4-17Clinical Imaging Research: Higher Evidence, Global Collaboration, Improved Reporting, and Data Sharing Are the Grand ChallengesRadiology2019Volume: 291Issue: 3pp. 547-552See More RSNA Education Exhibits Thoracic Devices in 2018: A Comprehensive Pictorial Review of Devices Seen on Chest RadiographDigital Posters2018Novel Cardiopulmonary Devices, Purpose, and Imaging Appearances Digital Posters2018Major Aorto Pulmonary Collaterals (MAPCAs): What the Radiologist Needs to KnowDigital Posters2019 RSNA Case Collection Pulmonary Arteriovenous MalformationRSNA Case Collection2021Stroke following CT guided chest biopsy RSNA Case Collection2020Intralobar pulmonary sequestrationRSNA Case Collection2020 Vol. 1, No. 1 Metrics Altmetric Score PDF download
