Abstract

Recent finds in the Great Salt Lake Desert provide new evidence about Haskett projectile-point technology. Haskett is a large, early representative of the Western Stemmed Tradition. The collection includes the longest Haskett specimen yet documented and another that has yielded a positive result to elephant antiserum via protein-residue analysis. Technological evidence is provided that supports the interpretation of Haskett points as sophisticated throwing/thrusting spear tips.
