Abstract

Background: The hemodynamically relevant ductus arteriosus (PDA) impairs pulmonary and cardiac function. This effect is more pronounced in preterm infants weighing ≤1500g. The aim of this study was to assess short-term and mid-term effects of early and delayed surgical closure of the ductus arteriosus on respiratory, renal cardiovascular and digestive outcome in preterm infants weighing ≤1500g.
