Abstract
Nesta nota breve, narra-se o episódio da primeira cirurgia para meningioma parassagital realizada com sucesso pelo grande mestre Cushing. Seu paciente, após a primeira cirurgia, retomou suas atividades levando uma vida normal. Infelizmente, o tumor recidivou após alguns anos, sendo realizada uma segunda cirurgia, sem sucesso. Nestas passagens, fica evidente o pioneirismo e a coragem de Cushing, embasados por grande curiosidade científica e conhecimento enciclopédico, dando os primeiros passos nos primórdios da neurocirurgia como especialidade.
