Abstract

The present study reports on harnessing bimetallic (V and Ni) oxide nanoparticles supported on ionic liquid-functionalized silica for enhancing catalytic performance in epoxidation and hydrogenation reactions. The as-synthesized catalyst was ably characterized through various techniques such as FTIR, X-ray diffraction (XRD), N2 adsorption−desorption isotherms, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS), and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA). A selective organic transformation of Isophorone to Homalinol via two-steps tandem reaction significantly promoted by synthesized catalyst. During epoxidation and hydrogenation reactions, V-NiNPs@SILP catalyst demonstrated excellent catalytic performance, leading to 98.23 % conversion with 99.06 % selectivity. Moreover, the synthesized catalyst exhibited recyclability for five consecutive cycles with minute loss in activity.
