Abstract

In this letter, we aim to maximize the downlink sum-rate for multi-antenna orthogonal frequency division multiple access (OFDMA) systems with multiple reconfigurable intelligent surfaces (RISs). Due to the high non-convexity of the multiple RISs-aided systems, the sum-rate of the system is often dictated by the initial values of the optimization variables. We propose a novel harmony search-based alternating optimization (AO) algorithm to improve the AO algorithm by searching the high-quality initial value. In the numerical results, the proposed technique outperforms the AO algorithm with random initialization, making the proposed algorithm highly practical.
