Abstract

Harmonics in power systems have been known since the adoption of alternating current as a means for electric energy transmission. They have, however, been magnified nowadays with the increased use of non-linear devices. A nonlinear device produces non-sinusoidal current when supplied with a sinusoidal voltage1, and vice versa [3]. This chapter provides a review of the origins of power system harmonics.
