Abstract

Thanks to the availability of modern monitoring systems the current and voltage harmonic composition becomes an excellent tool for solving many problems in the operation of the power supply system. The paper is devoted to the study of harmonic formation processes that have become available for identification in short time intervals. A review of using possibilities of harmonic composition as the key to solving various problems from power quality evaluation up to reliability indicators determination in power supply systems was carried out. The authors describe in details how the current harmonic components of the traction substation feeder behave differently in short-circuit mode and in normal mode. For the task of short-circuit mode identification it is proposed to use several new characteristics, which are obtained from the current oscillograms analysis.
