Abstract

An extensive study of the characteristics of AC system harmonic impedance was conducted for a proposed three-terminal DC system. Driving-point impedance data for frequencies up to the 50th harmonic were computed for several base cases and outage conditions for 600 bus system. Results are presented in a form suitable for defining areas of an R/X diagram. Potential low-order-resonance problems and interaction between AC harmonic filters of multiple DC infeeds within the same interconnected AC system were investigated. The data obtained made it possible to define the parameters of the line-circle diagram for inclusion in the DC system specification. A method of filter specification that takes into account resonance conditions is suggested.< <ETX xmlns:mml="http://www.w3.org/1998/Math/MathML" xmlns:xlink="http://www.w3.org/1999/xlink">></ETX>
