Abstract

AbstractAn approach for calculation of harmonic content (h) in nearly sinusoidal oscillators is presented. It uses Volterra series to develop explicit expressions, which are then used to discuss the dependence of h and the dependence of amplitudes of harmonics upon the feedback and upon the oscillation‐amplitude. Finally, the oscillator determining equation is written for two different fictitious points of cutting of the loop to illustrate uniqueness of this equation. Moreover, it is shown that the harmonic content h is generally different at different points in the oscillator‐loop.
