Abstract

Various sources including a DC power source generate harmonic components in the power system. As one of the approaches to compensate harmonic current generated in the power system, this paper presents a harmonic compensation system using a wound rotor induction machine (WRIM). The primary side current is controlled by excitation of the secondary side of the WRIM. In this paper, a harmonic compensation system based on flux-oriented vector control of wounded rotor induction motors is proposed. By using the flux-oriented vector control, a voltage source PWM control scheme can be applied with fast dynamic response time. The designed control scheme is verified through simulation.
