Abstract

This research article emphasizes on modeling, simulation & Total Harmonic Distortion (THD) analysis of wind energy driven Permanent Magnet Synchronous Generator (PMSG) connected to three phase series RLC load and grid. In Wind energy Conversion System (WECS) the kinetic energy from wind is converted into electrical energy by the help of generators and wind turbines. Basically, wind turbines are broadly classified into two types. Those are fixed speed wind turbines and variable speed wind turbines. On comparing both the kinds of wind turbines variable speed wind turbine gains the upper hand as it produces more energy and aids in reducing power fluctuations while improving reactive power supply. A variable speed wind turbine generally employs Double Fed Induction Generator (DFIG) or PMSG as the generating units. In this paper the PMSG along with some power electronics based converter and multilevel inverter devices have used to connect to the grid & three phase load and output parameters have been analyzed at variable switching instants and also studied the harmonic distortions.
