Abstract

Multilevel inverters are a new sort of power converter that is becoming more popular in power system applications especially when handling medium voltage or high voltage requirements. The traditional multilevel inverter architecture requires more switches for high application range. The paper is to overcome the problem by integrating the reduced switch multilevel inverter (RS MLI) with the DC/DC Boost Converter. By integrating these two circuits, the complete converter is now can produce higher output power with a lesser switch needed. During this study, the quality of output voltage needs to be observed in term of harmonic study and waveform pattern as every Boost Converter in this device working at 50kHz switching speed and might cause the interference to the complete system. This proposed circuit is tested using MATLAB/Simulink and its viability is tested through hardware implementation.
