Abstract
The point of view deliberately adopted in this paper is that of ‘narrative and discursive semiotics’, best illustrated by the work of A. J. Greimas and then developed in the context of the GRSL (Groupe de recherches sémio-linguistiques) and of what is now known as the ‘Paris School’.1
