Abstract

The microstructural changes inherent in the late stages of spinodal decomposition have been taken into account in modelling the hardening process. The force balance equation for a mixed dislocation lying in the slip plane has been modified to take into account the pronouced wave squaring and coarsening commonly observed. Calculated solutions show a marked saturation in the peak hardening which can be achieved and demonstrate that this value is dependent on the wavelenght of the decomposition and the sharpness of the wave squaring.
