Abstract
The distribution of haptoglobin and transferring phenotypes were examined in a Burmese population sample. The frequency of the Hp 7-gene was 0.19 and that of the TfD-gene was 0.0134. Both these gene frequencies lie between the values found in the Indian subcontinent and the other south-east Asian countries.
