Abstract

Background and Aims: The circulating levels of lipoprotein (a) (Lp(a)), an independent risk factor for major atherosclerotic events, are genetically determined. In particular, two single nucleotide polymorphisms (SNPs), rs10455872 and rs3798220 were shown to be associated with increased concentration of Lp(a). The aim of the study was to evaluate the association of the haplotypes of these two SNPs with Lp(a) concentration in patients after acute coronary event having Lp(a) levels above 1000 mg/L.
