Abstract

Aims: Insulin-degrading enzyme (IDE) is the major enzyme responsible for insulin proteolysis and is encoded by the IDE gene, which is located on chromosome 10q23-q24 within a region linked to T2DM. The aim of this study was to investigate whether genetic variants of the IDE-gene play a role in the regulation of insulin clearance in humans.
