Abstract
Hannes Alfvén, 1970 Nobel Laureate and 1988 Bowie Medalist, died April 2, 1995, in Stockholm, Sweden. Alfvén was the first scientist to receive a Nobel Prize for research in space science. He was honored for fundamental work in magneto‐hydrodynamics and for his discoveries in plasma physics.
