Handwritten Character Recognition by Using Neural-Network and Euclidean Distance Metric

Abstract

Recognition of handwritten characters is the most important task in any pattern recognition problem. In this paper, we have discussed a method to recognize a handwritten character by using Neural-network and Euclidean distance metric. At first the neural network is passes through a learning phase and then the network is used to recognize the unknown handwritten characters. For the mismatched handwritten characters, Euclidian distance metric is used to improve the recognition rate.
