Hands free urine drug confirmations with online hydrolysis

Abstract

Introduction: Urine drugs of abuse (DOA) screening results require confirmation by suitable mass spectrometry methods. Drug panel confirmations are often grouped by class and can involve a variety of sample preparation techniques including liquid-liquid or solid phase extraction and a hydrolysis step to liberate target drugs from their glucuronide bonds. An ‘all-in-one’ analytical method incorporating urine hydrolysis, minimal sample preparation and multiple drug class confirmations was desired.
