Abstract

In all organisations the mail presents two basic problems; dealing with the incoming mail and dealing with the outgoing mail. (See 5.24 for electronic mail.) In a small organisation one person deals with all the mail. In a large organisation there may be a special mail room employing many people. What happens in any particular mail room will depend on such factors as the amount of incoming and outgoing mail, the number of staff employed and the amount and range of machinery available. The following describes what might happen in a large organisation.
