Abstract

A method is described for weighing polyvinyl chloride filters in cotton dust measurements using an electrobalance. Elaborate conditioning methods designed to overcome moisture effects are unnecessary. Filter handling and storage, balance stability, and type of sampling cassette (filter holder) are factors which affect weighing accuracy. Polystyrene cassettes should be used, and after sampling, filters contained in the cassettes should be conditioned in a standard atmo sphere and weighed immediately upon removal from the cassettes.
