Event Abstract Back to Event Hand praxis in children with developmental coordination disorder Kuei-Yung Hung1* 1 Chang-Gung University, Taiwan Hand praxis is a part of body scheme. Depending on different stimulations, hand, objects and space interact with each other to achieve a purposeful goal. If hand praxis is impaired, the basic structure of hand movements is also damaged, which lead to affect distinct imitation, object use and meaningful/meaningless gestures. Normal children can develop appropriate finger discrimination ability and hand praxis. Finger discrimination ability can discriminate and name different stimulations and also assist the processing of hand movements. DCD (developmental coordination disorder) manifest motor deficits in nearly every motor domain. DCD have specific deficits in sensory-motor integration and praxis, they cannot plan and execute an appropriate motor performance, which cause their gestures, objects use and imitation to be “clumsy”. If DCD impair in hand praxis, their fine motor performances are also affected. The study aims to investigate the hand praxis in 5-7 years DCD and compares to age-match normal control group. By characterizing the performance and error patterns in transitive gestures and transitive pretense, the research suppose to analysis the developmental process of hand praxis in DCD and compare the performance differences in two task demands (transitive gestures and transitive pretense).
