Abstract

Hand-assisted laparoscopic surgery (HALS) was first described as a surgical method designed to facilitate the performance of challenging laparoscopic procedures while maintaining the advantages of a minimally invasive approach. An enormous fibroid uterus is very challenging for conventional laparoscopy and is well known for high conversion rate to laparotomy and prolonged morcellation time. Hence, this video demonstrates how to perform a hand assisted laparoscopic hysterectomy of a very large multiple fibroid uterus using ligaSure energy.
