Abstract

AbstractBased on the analogy theory of structural mechanics and optimal control, a numerical method of elastic wave propagation in layered media is studied. The theory of Hamiltonian system can be used in elastic wave propagation problems. In a Hamiltonian system, a new type of semi‐analytical element, called dynamic partial‐hybrid‐element, is derived by the variational principle. Thus, a semi‐analytical finite element method in a Hamiltonian system can be founded. Numerical results of wave propagation problems in layered media in a strip domain are presented, and the displacement and stress modes on a definite frequency are analyzed. Results demonstrate a broad range of prospective applications for this method.
