Abstract
Dueling was a popular, albeit illegal, resolution method for satisfying personal attacks for hundreds of years. Two of its most significant victims were Alexander Hamilton and Aaron Burr. Their duel had disastrous effects on the lives of both participants. Hamilton was mortally wounded and died painfully at a young age. Burr was charged with murder in both New Jersey and New York, and the duel marked the beginning of his disgrace. But how might this conflict unfold if the parties pursued a legal resolution to their dispute in the present day? This whimsical paper explores the options available to these men with an emphasis on alternative dispute resolution.
