S011 HAMEIMAT TROUGH (SIRT BASIN -LIBYA) – EARLY STAGE OF RIFTING – DEPOSITIONAL AND VOLCANICLASTIC PROCESSES Summary 1 The Hameimat Trough represents the southeastern arm of the Sirte Basin and it shows an example of rifting development including structural depositional and volcaniclastic processes. The main rifting phase is Upper Cretaceous in age and the leading structural features are two NW-SE border faults linked by a regional NE-SE transfer fault with a strike-slip component.
