Abstract

A study comparing haloperidol and atypical antipsychotics for the management of agitation in patients hospitalized for acute myocardial infarction has found a small increased risk of death with haloperidol in the seven days after drug initiation. This risk was strongest in the first four days of treatment and was no longer present by day five, the researchers reported.
