Abstract

We study the structural, magnetic, and electronic properties of quaternary Heusler alloy CoRuMnSb. Room temperature XRD analysis reveals that the alloy crystallizes in a perfectly ordered Y-type structure. The experimental saturation magnetization value is in good agreement with the Slater-Pauling rule, indicating half-metallicity. The Curie temperature is found to be >400 K. The ab-initio simulations predict a perfectly half-metallic ferromagnetic nature with a gap in the minority spin-channel. Thus, ordered structure, integer moment, high Tc, half-metallic nature, and high spin-polarization make CoRuMnSb alloy a potential candidate for spintronic applications.
