Abstract

This paper investigates the dynamic axial load transfer from an elastic bar with multi-defects into a viscoelastic half-space. An analytical solution is established to analyze the response of half-space soil excited by the vibration of a defective pile. The longitudinal vibration of a defective pile surrounded with soil simulated by plane-stain model is solved at first. An extended half-space excited by the known pile vibration is then solved by employing Fourier-Hankel integral transform. The developed solution is then employed to investigate the effect of environmental interference on the dynamic response of surrounding soil. Some conclusions derived from this study can be utilized to provide practical guidance for application of parallel seismic method in engineering practice.
