Abstract
Half body radiation has proved to be an effective method of pain relief in the management of metastatic carcinoma of the prostate. Seventy-two per cent of the patients respond. The median response is 4.7 months and the median survival is 5.5 months. Since the procedure requires only 2 hospital admissions of approximately 48 hours it provides an efficient use of health resources.
