Abstract

One’s hairstyle is an essential element in helping a person look neat and beautiful. It is comprised of a style, texture and color. The style is the cubic expression of an object, including depth, length and width, and its characteristics are classified into line, direction and shape. In hairstyling, scissors are used to express basic lines. Beautiful hairstyles can be accomplished through a haircut. This study attempted to create easy-to-care-for and practical curved haircuts through an analysis of the physical factors that are seen as the hair moves when being cut by curved scissors. The visually recognizable line, direction and shape are the tangible design from a technical perspective while positive responses, which represent customer satisfaction and trust, are the intangible design. This study targeted creating hairstyles with curved scissors, instead of using conventional linear scissors-based haircut techniques with a goal of satisfying both tangible and intangible aspects.
