Abstract

Cosmetic companies have long-noticed the demand for personal grooming, including hair removal, has been growing at a financially attractive rate. Hair removal has been one of the most sought after sectors within the cosmetic market to capitalize investment opportunities. The variety of existing and impending technologies has made investment decision-making complicated. Hierarchical decision models (HDM) are able to cope with the complexity of hair removal technology selection. To select hair removal technology based on a HDM model, the following steps were pursued: defining the problem, selecting the experts, building and verifying the HDM model, data gathering, data analysis, and sensitivity analysis. At the end, the model is implemented and the best technology is selected.
