Abstract

ABSTRACT Photographic UBV photometry is presented for 33 and 51 stars in the regions of Haffner 20 ( = b = -1?0) and Haffner 21 (#= , b = + ), respectively. Both are moderately old (earliest spectral type b9), small (diameter 2 '2) open clusters in Puppis. 20 lies at a distance of 2.4 1 0.3 kpc, and Haffner 21 at 3.3 1 0.4 kpc. The low reddening of Haffner 21 ( = 0.20) and the higher reddening of Haffuer 20 ( = 0.55) reflects the tendency of interstellar dust to lie below the galactic plane in Puppis. Key words: open clusters - photographic UBV photometry - interstellar reddening
