Haemoproteus lonchuri n.sp., a New Avian Haemosporidian from Lonchura malacca (L.)

Abstract

Summary The communication records a new species of avian Haemosporidia, Haemoproteus lonchuri from an estrildid bird, Lonchura malacca (L.).Both the macrogametocyte and the microgametocyte of the parasite have been described and compared with the allied forms known from the birds of the family Estrildidae.
