Abstract
(Acta Anaesthesiol Scand. 2018. Doi:10.1111/aas.13259) For gynecologic procedures involving the cervix or uterus, long-acting local anesthetics like bupivacaine, administered via paracervical block, can provide a significant reduction in postoperative pain scores. Adrenaline can be added to local anesthetics to reduce toxicity potential. However, there are few data available regarding the frequency and magnitude of hemodynamic changes in patients when adrenaline is added to local anesthetics. In this randomized controlled trial, the authors examined hemodynamic stability after paracervical block in healthy patients given bupivacaine with and without adrenaline.
