Kallick and associates (1) have reported finding small round bodies, 0.3 to 0.5 mm in diameter, in erythrocytes of eight consecutive patients with systemic lupus erythematosus. These bodies produced bright fluorescence after being stained with acridine orange, a dye with a strong affinity for RNA and DNA.
