Abstract

In this study, our group determined the effect of normal saline (NaCl; 0.9 %) and phosphate buffered saline (PBS) on haematological studies (blood counts) and these studies were conducted in whole blood samples and were compared in human healthy subjects. For these studies, young adult male volunteers (n = 9) were selected and collected blood samples in EDTA coated tubes. Immunobiological analysis of blood samples were performed using flow cytometry pertaining to analyze blood counts which were dissolved simultaneously in two different sets i.e. normal saline, pH 9.6 and PBS, pH 7.2. The results showed that normal saline increased the monocytes and granulocytes count and PBS will be able to retain the normal range of lymphocytes, monocytes as well as granulocytes count.
