Abstract

The complete hadronic contribution to O( α 2) real and virtual corrections from initial state radiation in e +e − annihilation is calculated using experimental information on the imaginary part of the hadronic vacuum polarization Im Π( q 2). For high energies both real and virtual corrections are expressed by four moments of Im Π( q 2) which characterize its behavior in the low- and high- q 2 region. The formalism is applied to study the influence of hadronic radiation on the Z line shape and on the cross section in the continuum.
