Abstract

Hadron pair photoproduction cross sections near the threshold region have lately been under experimental scrutiny. Many of the results that have appeared consequently, in particular those of the polar angular distribution, are difficult to understand using perturbative methods, but are naturally understood in terms of resonance and pole dynamics. We investigate the validity of this latter picture by making use of a simple Veneziano amplitude and find that the parameter-free results reproduce the general behaviour of the experimental data.
