Abstract

Happiness in marriage has a significant impact and is capable of preventing undesirable occurrences. Having a happy family is a dream for every individual. Through marriage, a feeling of happiness known as "al-sa‘adah" is born. It is the duty and responsibility of the husband to educate his wife to obey all of Allah's commands. The Quran and Hadith serve as a comprehensive guide for humanity, encompassing all matters, including the management of marriage. Unfortunately, not all marriages provide the happiness envisioned by every married individual. A husband is permitted to strike his wife with the intention of educating and teaching for her betterment, not to vent anger or seek revenge. To what extent such physical discipline is considered permissible according to Islamic law is explored. The objective of this study is to examine the permissible limits of physical discipline on wives according to the Quran and Hadith. The research design is qualitative, utilizing document analysis as the data collection method, and textual analysis as the data analysis method. The findings of the study reveal that there are limits and guidelines permitted for disciplining wives according to Islamic law.
