Abstract

The ventral hernia repair using minimally invasive approaches has been one of the last procedures included in the portfolio of minimally invasive endoscopic surgery.Natural orifice translumenal endoscopic surgery (NOTES) has offered the possibility of using these new approaches, especially transvaginal route, for minimally invasive repair of the abdominal wall.We have analyzed the literature and personal experience to assess where we are in the minimally invasive approach of the ventral hernia surgery and how we are moving towards minimally invasive natural orifice endoscopic surgery in these kind of procedures.
