Abstract

This article aims to broaden the knowledge about the participation of men who belonged to the elites of the interior, possessed expert knowledge and from that position occupied positions in the administrative body of the State. In this direction, the general objective of the article is to revisit a 19 th century biographical trajectory, that of Mariano Fragueiro (1795-1872), born in Córdoba, a prosperous merchant and banker who became involved in politics and assumed management positions at critical moments of state formation during the first half of the 19 th century. The relevance of the work consists in proposing a category of analysis -ideologues of the State- without ignoring the validity of another more commonly used (intellectuals) and considering for its treatment the trajectory and the context as its dimensions of analysis. The documentary corpus also includes unpublished sources, official letters written by Fragueiro, his writings Organización del Crédito (1850) and Cuestiones Argentinas (1852) and journalistic notes published in Paraná and Buenos Aires about his government management and political profile.
