Abstract

was decreased, while their fat free mass was relatively stable. It indicated that adequate nutrition and consistent physical exercise program in climbing could maintain normal body composition. In addition, biochemical parameters were also normal and stable, except for fairly significant fluctuation in two climbers probably due to genetic factor. Albumin and globulin were normal as well. On the other hand, triglyceride levels fairly decreased to almost below the normal value. Conclusions: The current study indicated that adequate nutritional intake and consistent physical exercise could maintain normal body composition, as the indicator of low metabolic disorder risk, despite exposure to physical stress and high impact climbing activity in terms of frequency as well as duration.
