Abstract

SummaryThe habitats and feeding stations of birds in six types of forest, two mountain and four lowland, are described. Just over half the species occur in both lowland and mountain forest, about half the remainder being restricted to mountain and half to lowland forest. Endemic species, of which St Lucia has more than any other island in the Lesser Antilles, occur in a wide range of habitats, and their significance is discussed in relation to current theories of island biogeography.
