Abstract

Multiply twinned particles of gold grown on evaporated AgBr films were examined by electron microscopy methods. A variety of particles coexisting on the same substrate have been found. The habit and compasition were determined for a series of selected particles, including those with irregular profiles. Thus different stages of the process of successive twinning are illustrated. Deviations from the polyhedron particle habit which alter the particle surface by forming notches at twin boundaries and by faceting are observed.
